Bigger Lots Mean More Concrete
Epoxy flooring in Plantation often covers more than one slab per property. The city grew up on larger lots, and many homes here have an attached garage plus a pool deck, a covered patio, a detached workshop or, out in Plantation Acres, a barn or equipment shed. We can look at all of it in one visit and give you one written quote that separates each area.
Drained from the Everglades
Before the 20th century, the land that became Plantation was Everglades wetland, regularly covered by 2 to 3 feet of water. The city's name comes from the Everglades Plantation Company and its failed attempt at a rice plantation. Frederick C. Peters later bought about 10,000 acres, and the Old Plantation Water Control District was chartered to drain the area and run its secondary canals. Early construction was hit hard: many of the first homes were destroyed by flooding after 93 days of rain and two hurricanes. Plantation was incorporated on April 23, 1953.
That history still matters for a concrete floor. Ground that was once wetland and still relies on drainage canals can keep moisture close to a slab. Before we coat anything here, we test for moisture and look for signs of it, such as white mineral deposits, darker damp patches or old coatings that have bubbled. Where moisture is present, we use a primer rated for it, or we tell you the floor is not ready.
The acre lot
Peters' advertising promised "A Full Acre with Every Home." A two-bedroom home with an acre of land and 20 fruit trees sold for $10,241. Many Plantation properties still have more outdoor space than the cities around them. Here is what we coat on these properties:
- Attached and detached garages: flake systems that hold up to cars, mowers and tools
- Workshops and hobby spaces: thicker epoxy that resists oil, fuel and dropped tools
- Pool decks and patios: textured, UV-stable finishes in light colors that stay cooler in the sun
- Covered outdoor kitchens: stain-resistant coatings that clean up after grease and spills
Plantation Acres
Plantation Acres was annexed into the city in 1973 and is designated a Special Public Interest Rural District to protect its natural landscape. Properties out there tend to be larger, and many have barns, stables, feed rooms or equipment sheds with concrete floors. For those we recommend tough, textured coatings that resist fertilizer, fuel and wash water and do not get slick when wet. We also coat tack rooms and feed rooms where a sealed floor makes it easier to keep pests and dust under control.
Storm history
Hurricane Wilma hit Plantation on October 24, 2005, with heavy damage and power outages. The damage led to the closure of the Fashion Mall in 2006. Many homes here have been repaired or remodeled since. If your garage or ground floor was replaced or patched after a storm, tell us. Mismatched patches and new concrete next to old need their own prep before a coating will look even.
Commercial floors too
Plantation is also home to the Broward Mall and plenty of offices and shops. We coat clinic floors, office kitchens, stockrooms and service areas with systems that can go down after hours.

Plantation Questions
Can you coat a barn or stable floor in Plantation Acres?
Yes, if it is a sound concrete slab. We use a textured, chemical-resistant system that handles wash water, fuel and feed. We look at drainage and moisture first, since outbuildings often sit on wetter ground.
Can you do the garage, workshop and pool deck in one project?
Yes. We measure each area on one visit and give you a single written quote that breaks out each slab. Outdoor areas get UV-stable finishes; indoor areas can use a different system.
Why do you test for moisture on every Plantation job?
Much of the city was drained wetland. Moisture moving up through the slab is a common cause of blistering and peeling. Testing first lets us choose the right primer or tell you to wait.
